How StellarReach compares

Honest, no-spin comparisons with the tools web agencies already use — including where the other tool is the better buy. The cold-outreach platforms below are the closest thing to a real competitor; the client CRMs and lead lists solve a different part of the pipeline entirely.

vs Cold-email platform

StellarReach vs Instantly

Instantly is built to send at scale, and it's very good at it. StellarReach is built to have something worth sending — it scores each prospect's site and builds them a demo first.

StellarReach vs Smartlead

Smartlead is built for agencies running cold email on behalf of clients, white-label reporting and all. StellarReach fills your own pipeline. Opposite directions in the same channel.

vs Sales data platform

StellarReach vs Apollo

Apollo tells you who a company is, at enormous scale. It can't tell you their website is a broken 2011 template — which is the whole buying trigger for a redesign.

vs Client CRM

StellarReach vs HoneyBook

HoneyBook manages the clients you already have — proposals, contracts, invoices. StellarReach fills the pipeline that feeds it. Which one you need depends on the gap you're solving.

vs Client CRM

StellarReach vs Dubsado

Dubsado is a deeply customizable CRM for managing booked clients. StellarReach is the prospecting engine upstream of it. Complementary, not interchangeable — here's the honest breakdown.

vs Freelance suite

StellarReach vs Bonsai

Bonsai runs your freelance back office — contracts, invoicing, taxes. StellarReach runs the front of the funnel that keeps it busy. Where the line is, and which to buy first.

vs Lead lists

StellarReach vs BuiltWith

BuiltWith hands you a list of sites by technology. StellarReach scores the sites that matter, builds each a demo, and runs the outreach. A list vs. a pipeline — the real difference.

“Why not just run it on my own AI subscription?”

Fair question, and it comes up more every month: buy a licence for a self-hosted kit — or build one — run it on your own AI plan, and there’s no per-token line on your bill. Worth doing the arithmetic before concluding it’s cheaper, though. These kits usually stack three costs, not one: a licence up front, a monthly fee, and the top-tier AI subscription they tell you to buy. So the real question isn’t flat versus metered — it’s whether your cost should track the work you actually do.

It runs when your machine runs

A pipeline on your laptop prospects while the lid is open and stops when it isn’t — and outreach that skips three days doesn’t just pause, it goes cold. StellarReach runs on scheduled jobs on our infrastructure: prospecting, sending, follow-up and reply handling keep going while you’re asleep, on a plane, or between machines.

The AI was never the hard part

Generating a site is the easy half. Getting mail delivered is the half that decides whether any of it earns money: gradual inbox warmup, address verification before send, SPF/DKIM/DMARC checked and scored, business-hours pacing, per-mailbox daily caps, one-click CAN-SPAM unsubscribe and a permanent suppression list. Burn your sending domain once and you’ve lost more than a year of subscription savings.

You pay the floor in the quiet months

That licence-plus-monthly-plus-AI-plan stack is the same number in the week you’re still tuning your rubric, the month you’re heads-down delivering client work, and the month you pause entirely. And the AI plan caps throughput, not spend — it’s shared with everything else on that account, so you still find the ceiling when a run stalls mid-batch. Metered usage runs the other way: near zero when you’re not prospecting, visible per prospect when you are, under a hard monthly cap you set.

One subscription is one person

A licence tied to your machine and your AI account is a solo tool. The moment a second person works leads, you need seats, roles, a sending inbox per rep so volume spreads across real mailboxes, and per-seat control over who can spend on AI. That’s a platform problem, not a script problem.

The build is the cheap part

The revenue is in everything after it: the outreach, brief, nudge and farewell sequence, replies classified so opt-outs and autoresponders never pollute your pipeline, a Replies inbox, heat-coded lead temperature, calling from the card, and a push into your own CRM. A generator that mails a link has done about a fifth of the job.

Nothing coordinates copies of a script

Every licensee of a self-hosted kit can pitch the same business on the same morning, and none of them will ever know. Our optional Exclusivity Period only works because there’s a shared registry behind it — a distributed copy has nothing to check against.

And the honest other side: if you want to own the code outright, run the whole thing in-house, and you already live in a top-tier AI plan all day for other work, a self-hosted kit is a real option and we’d rather say so than pretend. Just price the whole stack — licence, monthly fee and the AI subscription they recommend — against a plan here plus the usage you’d actually run. The comparison that decides it isn’t either monthly fee: it’s cost per client won, and that’s the number our pricing calculator is built to show you with your own funnel figures. Bringing your own Anthropic and Google keys is on the table too, on Scale & Agency: you pay the providers directly, at no markup from us.
